National Parks, Understanding Elements of Drama (in plays), and Halloween FUN!
Our leader of the week is sharing her poster.
We continued our research on our national parks.
Later in the week, we presented our information to the class.
We focused on geographical features, plants and wildlife, outdoor activities, and
how the national park is special to the region.
On Monday, we read about hurricane hunters and first-hand experiences of a pilot who flies through hurricanes for research.
We watched a video of a hurricane hunter flying through the eye of a hurricane.
We learned about visualizing and how words can help us paint pictures in our mind to help us understand the text. We used our book club books to find phrases that helped us visualize and created quick sketches of what we visualized happening in the text.
National Park Presentations
We read a drama called "Catch Me If You Can."
Ask your 4th grader about it!
After we finished, we focused on writing an additional ending to the play.
We learned how to use elements of drama and formatting to create our very own scene in the play.
On Friday morning, we painted kindness rocks and made cards for the
firefighters and police departments in Deerfield.
The rocks turned out fantastic!
Congratulations to our Kindness and Grit award recipients!
Getting in some reading time during LMC.
The Answers Are...
Using each of the numbers from 1 to 10 exactly once, make 5 expressions whose answers are 15, 1, 1, 1, 19. An expression, in this case, is defined as two numbers plus an operation. For these five answers, you are limited to using only addition and subtraction and you have to use each one at least twice.
