Buddies and Science Presentations

Image
We worked with partners to find evidence to support the use of media techniques  in our Animal Senses video. We wrapped up our science unit with a research project.  The kids could choose from the following: tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides, weathering, erosion, glaciers, or volcanos. We enjoyed helping our buddies build their vocabulary with adjectives outside.  The kids helped locate different items outside for each letter of the alphabet. Then, they helped their 1st grader come up with different words to describe the noun. Way to go, Cacioppo Crew! We made observations on different fraction lines from classmates. What do they have in common? What's different? We continued our research for science! Presentation Time! Groups that were ready presented their information to the class.  We will wrap up our presentations on Monday. Congratulations to our Kindness and Grit award recipients!

Our Leader of the Week shared her poster and pictures with the class!   We are working on our informational text book club reading. Next week we will go back in the text to practice the skills we are learning in our whole group lessons. When we finish, we enjoy diving into our own IDR books (Individualized Daily Reading). We learned how weathering and erosion and change structures and earth's landscapes. When we were done reading, we created our Top 5 Takeaways.  Agents of Change: We carried out investigations, using models, to show that wind, glaciers, and earthquakes can cause rock structures to break apart and move. We complete our math lesson digitally with a partner. The goal was to create a hamster home applying the skills we are learning  with factors and multiples. Congratulations to our Kindness and Grit Award Recipients!
