First Week of School (out of order... of course)

Cacioppo Crew

Getting ready for Open House 2025!!!

We explored some different math activities.
This game required us to roll dice, add the numbers, then multiply by a specific number.
The goal was to get 6 in a row!

We used our brainstorming web to help us elaborate on details about ourselves for our self-portrait writing. We talked about how we can use tools to organize our ideas and to help us elaborate.

Me Bag Time!
The kids were asked to bring in a few items from home to share with the class
so we can learn more about one another and build connections.

Morning Break FUN!

In reading, we are learning that readers do more than just read the words.
Readers are asking questions, making connections, and taking note along the way to make sure it makes sense.

We worked with our table mates to discuss the central idea (main idea) of a short read.

In science we analyzed several different maps of the world and discussed our
observations with our science groups.

The maps documented earthquake locations, volcano locations, ocean trench locations,
ocean ridge locations, and mountain range locations.

When we were done making observations, we wrote on two post-its:
I noticed...
I wonder...

We explored some of our math manipulatives with classmates.
The imagination was endless!

As mathematicians, we are learning:

After reading Flora and Ulysses, we worked in small groups to answer some questions.
We are learning how to go back in the text to find evidence, how to make sure our response is answering the given questions, and how to include specific details that showcase our understanding.

We are also learning how to share our ideas and how to listen to ideas that are
different than ours with respect.

Be on the lookout for this page. It will be coming home soon!

Congratulations to our Kindness and Grit award recipients!
